Dante

I was, for some reason, reading Boundless this afternoon, and came across a duo of articles on--of all things--Dante. And why he's good for the 21st century church. And why suffering is good for the 21st century church.

The articles are pretty good, too. So far he only seems to have written on Inferno and Purgatory; I hope he gets to Paradise soon. But you've got to go through the pit and the mountain first. :-)

That's interesting. I suppose suffering is probably good for the church--at least for those portions of the church who are strong in the faith. I will have to think about that one some more before I know my complete opinion.

Well, I don't think *anyone* likes suffering. I sure don't. But as I read Scripture, God definitely uses it for the good of His people. One thing I like about Dante is how he puts suffering into an eternal perspective. It's much easier--as the articles say--to endure when you know Paradise is just a little further ahead. :-)
